How to be a Best Dressed Man
You see it in magazines and you hear it on the news, every year someone is named as the "World's Best Dressed." Whether they are Hollywood stars, politicians or well known business men, they are all eligible.
It doesn't have to do with your work or your titles or even how much money you have (although money helps!), it has to do with understanding who you are, what you stand for and an understanding of your own personal fashion style.
You can be a best dressed man
Being thought of as a best dressed man is an achievable goal for anyone who is willing to invest the time and effort that it requires. You can't just throw on a pair of jeans and a T-shirt and expect to be considered in that league.
Beau Brummell, who lived in Regency England in the late 1700's to early 1800's, is credited with establishing the style of men wearing fitted, tailored clothing, full length trousers and the forerunner of the necktie, the cravat.
Considered a "dandy", a person who is extremely devoted to fashion and physical appearance, he would also have been considered best dressed. It was rumored that he spent at least five hours every day getting dressed and appropriately groomed.
Although it isn't recommended, or even necessary to spend five hours a day on your appearance, expending a certain amount of time is required.
What is your style?
The best dressed man knows what he likes to wear, what looks good on him, what is appropriate, and he wears it.
Mark Twain is one of those men....he had 14 identical white suits made so he could wear a fresh one every day. He knew what he liked, what looked good on him and that's what he wore.
Fortunately you don't have to wear the same thing every day to be a best dressed man, as long as you follow these fashion tips:
- Dress appropriately for your body type
- Insist that your clothes fit properly.
- Understand the proper attire for different occasions.
- Wear the right accessories.
- Avoid fashion trends, stick to classic style.
- Hire a clothier
I have to admit, I am partial to that last tip.The best way to become a "best dressed man" is to have clothing that has been designed and tailored just for you.
As a men's clothier, I have been consulting with men about their personal style for over two decades.
I can create clothing that is your perfect fit and and leaves a great and lasting impression of you and for you.
